Earth Day

I love the quote by Louis Glickman, “The best investment on earth is earth.” As real estate professionals, we are all, hopefully, stewards of the earth. We help consumers buy and sell property in all shapes and sizes and in doing so we can help people best understand its value. Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues. The holiday is now a global celebration that sometimes extends into a full week of activities honoring our planet. It was originally the brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson who was inspired to do something after a massive oil spill off Santa Barbara, California.  Earth Day began as a “national teach-in on the environment” and was held on April 22nd to maximize the number of students that could be reached on university campuses. By raising public awareness of pollution, Nelson hoped to bring environmental causes into the national spotlight, and he did just that. Today, businesses and individuals around the world are coming together to do their part to help find new ways to help care for and protect our planet.

Something to Think About
It’s a different perspective to think about the earth, not just the homes on parcels of it, as part of the commodities in which we represent. This week give a nod towards our amazing planet, the part we are privileged to play in honoring it and what you and your family can do to make a difference!

Weekly Activity
Here is a great article from the folks at American Home Shield that you can share with the folks in your social media sphere about what they can do this Earth Day!
