Looking Long Term

Good morning, and what a fantastic day it is!  Where do you see your life in 5 years? 10 years? Where do you see your business in 5-10 years? Have you taken the time to create long-term goals with action steps?  I have found that many people are hesitant to commit to long-term goals, due to the fear of the unknown.  Who knows what the market will be? What changes might occur in your personal life? What if I tell everyone what I am going to do, and I don’t accomplish it? While it’s true that life is a series of twists and turns, there’s nothing wrong with mapping out a course for your life. Zig Ziglar said it best when he said, “Go as far as you can see. When you get there, you’ll be able to see farther!” What a simple concept. How far into your future can you see today? If you were standing there right now, as far into the future as you could see, what would your future look like? Now, map it out!

Something to Think About

Don’t let uncertainty keep you from setting distant goals and putting plans in place. Life may still deliver a few plot twists, but some of those can hold tremendous lessons and open doors we didn’t see coming. Stay rooted in the goals and be flexible about your means of reaching them.

Weekly Activity

Take the time this week to map out one long term goal. It’s like estate planning or financial planning. None of us know what the future holds, but we do know our dreams and wishes. Be daring. Determine on goal, tell others about it, and develop a few action steps to move in that direction. Ready, set, GO!
